About Us~Currently we have 3 part time Staff plus myself. Margaret, Penny and D, oh & my husband O, who picks up the pieces when a shelf needs fixing, cabinet or floor painting!
Stock is approaching 1000 diferent fabrics although how they all fit in the shop is any ones geuss!Workshops & Classes are as ever popular & we try to satify your hunger to be creative!
Beccas Quilt Emporium was established in February 1999.
Becca, (that's me!), and Oran Balazs started renting a workshop at The Craft & Design Centre, making quilts, cushions, hand made cards and big quilts to commission.. During that spring we had over 20 people sign up for patchwork & quilting classes. With the support & enthusiasm from friends & family, fabrics & notions began to expand!
In 2001 Oran & Dad fitted out the new workroom to give more room for you to do the classes n& workshop days. Also in that year we became main stockest of 'YLI Threads & Stewart Gill Paints.Paint & thread play days keep every one happy and creative!
Oscar arrived at the same time I employed my first part time staff, "Aunty Liz" then "Aunty Dee" and in later on "Aunty Rachel"!
Sounds like a family affair, well it felt like it for Oscar! Between us we were taking bets on whether his first words would be 'fat quarter or 'that will be £12.50 thank you' ! Many of you may remember the play pen in the corner or the bouncer hanging from the beams!
On his first birthday we were at the Festival of quilts in the NEC. That, I think had been my biggest challenge, until Kieran Arrived! Juggling child minders, nappy changing, feeding & just general 'getting in the car' are now daily challenges!
Kieran & Oscar are beautiful characters, yet chalk & cheese!
2005 welcomed Penny and Margaret who are full of great ideas about arranging, sorting & tidying!
They are both crafty people and their enthuseasum shines through when serving customers! And now the launch of shopping online, to satisfy you hungry customers from near & far!!(I sometimes think a fresh new rich fat quarter is nearly as good as a bar of galaxy!)
